    We are recruiting for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a new, but generously funded, startup in the pet/animal/vet space. We are looking for an experienced CFO who is eager to leverage his/her experience towards building and growing a successful business from the ground up.     About the Role

    The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) serves as a strategic and integral business partner to the CEO, executive team, and board of directors. This leader is responsible for the leadership and management of the full breadth of accounting and financial operations of the organization. The role provides both strategic and tactical leadership and has oversight of accounting and finance, including financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting, planning and analysis, and capital structure.

    Given the dynamic, growing nature of our platform, agility to quickly move between tasks is critical, as this role is a strategically critical role as we continue to rapidly grow, acquire, and integrate future business.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Lead – and over time, scale – the finance and accounting processes for a multi-site, multi-state organization. Hands-on responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Tax returns / payments.
    • Treasury management.
    • Payroll administration.
    • Oversee a hybrid / remote billing and authorization team that operates with a spirit of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws. Responsible for a clean and timely annual audit.
    • Partner with the executive team to create and track KPIs with a focus on revenue cycle management to help guide executive team decision making and provide appropriate metrics for analysis of profitability and performance of the business. Communicate identified trends in a way that leads to demonstrable actions.
    • Oversee the management of due diligence processes.
    • Initially serve as the deal manager executing our due diligence process, complete valuations, and present acquisitions to the Investment Committee.
    • Over time, oversee our deal acquisition & integration team in their preparations for Investment Committee presentations.
    • Ensure post-acquisition back-office integrations are performed with quality and in a timely manner in line with our cost synergy model.
    • Oversee the back-office IT infrastructure, including partnership with any third-party vendor(s).
    • Interface with the board of directors to communicate financial updates. Work with the CEO and board of directors as needed to interface with legal counsel, accounting firms, lenders, and other relevant third-party vendors / partners.

    About You

    We are looking for an experienced finance leader with an entrepreneurial mindset who not only understands what great looks like from a strategic level but also is willing and able to roll up the sleeves, work alongside the team in trenches to get the work done. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced startup, high-growth, multi-site, roll-up M&A environment. Ideally, this candidate has:

    · A bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance is required. An advanced degree is preferred.

    · Ten (10) or more years of progressive, full-time experience working in private equity or healthcare finance.

    · CPA strongly preferred.

    · Must have experience reporting to a board of directors in a for-profit environment through PE experience or something similar.

    · Previous experience working in or with a multi-state organization.

    · Must possess an ability to communicate high-level business concepts and financial impact through robust written and oral communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.

    · Must have management experience leading and mentoring direct reports. Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to roll up sleeves and be involved in details of the business in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment.
