The Transportation Manager is responsible for directing the daily operations of the transportation department. Provide excellent customer service that focuses on safe and efficient transportation of students. Responsible for routing, scheduling and support of the school district’s activity programs for students. This position requires proven abilities in organization, leadership and human relationships

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Driver Recruitment.

MUST possess CDL with P&S endorsements

Coordinate student transportation operations at the assigned location, including direct oversight of student behavior management and bus driver supervision. Oversight of route management, safety and training, and dispatch operations at assigned location.

Supervise, schedule/assign work to and evaluate all assigned location personnel.

Maintain accurate timesheets and report payroll for location, working closely with administrative assistant/payroll department.

Work closely with the shop technician to establish bus priorities and maintenance scheduling.

Provide work direction, training, and problem-solving assistance to employees. Apply progressive discipline principles as needed.

Ensure drivers maintain safe and clean buses (interior)

Managers are responsible for washing buses as needed (if included in contract, oversee washer/fueler). Managers are responsible for spare buses, inside and out.

Trip buses must be washed before trips, weather permitting.

Ensure safety and compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations regarding pupil transportation.

Provide responsive customer service to school district/patrons, parents/guardians and bus riders. Respond to all school inquiries and concerns. Act as the primary communication between the patron and company.

Communicate with school administrators regarding scheduling, referrals, etc.

Always maintain a respectful attitude and professional code of conduct with everyone you come into contact with.

Oversee and participate in the planning and execution of emergency and inclement weather procedures and emergency evacuation drills.

Responsible for Driver Training

Performs road checks in inclement weather

Perform other related duties as assigned.
