Benhaven School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Paraeducators, on a per diem basis. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to students and teachers in the classroom to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
Status: per diem
Hours : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 9:20am-4:20pm and Wednesday 9:20am-2pm
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and classroom activities
- Work with individual students or small groups to provide additional support and guidance
- Help to manage student behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
- Provide assistance with classroom materials and resources, such as organizing materials and setting up equipment
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to meet the individual needs of students
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in education and special education best practices
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 5 years working with children with autism/ID in an educational setting is strongly preferred
- Other experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities may be considered
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and teachers
- Willingness to undergo a background check and comply with school policies and procedures
