As the Corporate Controller, in addition to monthly accounting duties, you will be responsible for overseeing our transition from legacy financial systems to new technology and processes as we scale our company during a time of high growth.
Job Summary
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Corporate Controller will be responsible for the direct supervision of all accounting and finance functions, including supervision of the monthly close process, providing leadership with accurate and timely financial statements, processing of account payables, budget preparation, quarterly tax projection and annual tax return support, along with treasury administration. The Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating efficiencies in the close and reporting processes. A strong background in technology is preferred.
Initial Expectations
The successful candidate for the Corporate Controller will be ready to lead the team’s efforts to upgrade our systems and processes so that we are better aligned to meet our goals for growth. While we have a clear understanding of our need for this position, the expectations may need to be adjusted due to the priority of the system transition. With this in mind, we anticipate the general expectations to be as follows:
By 30 days: Able to understand and articulate the challenges facing the department and begin outlining a path forward for success in both the transition project and other identified areas of opportunity.
By 60 days: Manage many of the monthly tasks including payroll, monthly lease payments, CAMs, taxes, licenses and communication. To be successful in the role, the Corporate Controller will also be engaged in leadership meetings and in managing staff.
By 90 days: After approval, actively pursuing the path to success identified in the first 30 days with regular check-ins on progress and metrics with leadership. The system transition is prioritized and proceeding. In addition, the Controller has begun creating process and procedure documentation that bolsters efficiency and accuracy for key departmental tasks.
Long-term: This role will continue to evolve as the Company grows and the system and processes develop accordingly.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
Gain proficiency in the company ERP/MRP processes and support the implementation of new technology and automation. We are currently transitioning to Sage Intacct.
Lead, Manage & Hold Accountable the Accounting team, including hiring as necessary, currently comprised of one Accountant
Oversight of the ongoing department processes, including but not limited to:
* **Monthly lease payments, CAMs, taxes, and communication with related 3rd parties**
* **Manage existing and new location licenses and taxes**
* **Work-in-Progress and Inventory Management**
* **Monthly Close, including review and record journal entries**
* **Accurate and timely financials statements, monthly, quarterly, annually with appropriate notations, and ad hoc reports as requested**
* **Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.**
* **Assist in the implementation of corporate policies and procedures such as invoice processing, cash management and calculation of fees.**
* **Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.**
* **Implement a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers.**
Perform periodic analytical reviews of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective.
Complete 4 monthly payrolls via Paychex Payroll System, with support from Accountant, (semi monthly, payrolls for 2 entities).
Review of incurred charges and penalty fees and remediate when possible.
Coordinate the preparation of annual tax returns with outside CPA firm.
Preparation of budgets and forecasts
Collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data from different software tools, and make recommendations for future financial plans.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Assist with assessing and managing insurance policies, various.
Participate in leadership meetings as the Finance lead.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience
Minimum of 3 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role with similar responsibilities
CPA or other accounting certification preferred
Strong GAAP cost accounting background with financial reporting skills
Proficient in Desktop Technologies (Microsoft Office), Experience with Tableau is a huge plus Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Able to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex legal and financial information
Ability to prioritize and work for self and team with multiple supervisors including President and Leadership Team
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year, DOE
