FIRE KING OF SEATTLE specializes in Hydrostatic Testing and Cylinder Maintenance. Fire King tests and repairs more compressed gas cylinders than any other independent facility in the Pacific Northwest. DOT regulations require periodic testing on high pressure compressed gas cylinders. We perform both Ultra Sonic Testing and Hydrostatic Testing at our Seattle Plant Location. JOB SUMMARY:

Provide hydrostatic or ultrasonic testing and other services to cylinders in a safe, timely and accurate manner; to ensure that the equipment and the performance of duties are in compliance with all local, state, federal, DOT and EPA regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Operate, calibrate, and perform simple maintenance with/on computerized hydrostatic and ultrasonic cylinder testing equipment.
• Remove valve from cylinder using wrench or valve-removal machine.
• Record test results, cylinder serial number, and test date in a timely and accurate manner.
• Check expiration date of cylinder and make sure proper DOT number is correct for the size of the cylinder.
• Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
• Maintain neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.
• Perform mathematical calculations.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

• Must be punctual and comply with hourly work schedules.

• Ability to work with other department employees.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to perform very heavy work—routinely lift 25 to 75 lb., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lb. 

• Frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, feeling and repetitive motion required.

• Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• High school diploma, or equivalent required.

• General mechanical skills preferred.

• Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
