    PERIKIN Enterprises maintains a contract with the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Global Material Security (GMS) (NA-21). The GMS mission is to prevent terrorists from acquiring nuclear or radioactive material that could be used in an attack on the United States, its interests, or allies. GMS works with partners worldwide to secure nuclear and radioactive material and to detect and deter trafficking of this material. GMS is comprised of three offices: International Nuclear Security, Radiological Security, and Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence.

    • Position Location: Washington, DC (On-site at DOE Headquarters)
    • Position Type: Full Time
    • Salary: $70,000 - $100,000 annually

    The role of the Action Officer is to provide direct support to GMS senior leadership by facilitating workflow and communication between the GMS Front Office and its three offices, as well as with the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation. This position entails familiarity with providing administrative support, executive assistance, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn. Action Officer duties involve, but are not limited to, the following:

    PRIMARY JOB DUTIES

    • Receive, process, and coordinate office-level responses to multiple requests for information (in the form of "taskers") daily. Prepare and edit documents for consistency/accuracy and consolidate input from multiple stakeholders. This effort varies daily and includes regular communication (such as daily status updates) and ad-hoc verbal communication, with any decision(s) being accurately transcribed to email for record purposes.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to the interoffice and interagency correspondence process.
    • Provide support as requested in the area of records management and process improvements.
    • Organize and maintain historical records of strategic program messaging, priorities, and responses to both Congressional & senior DOE/NNSA requests. This includes maintaining a thorough understanding of historical messaging (especially at the policy/strategic level) in order to help as appropriate.
    • Attend and organize, as requested, program meetings to remain informed about program priorities, policies, and staffing. This will occasionally involve preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, reserving meeting spaces, greeting and escorting official visitors, and presenting on behalf of senior management.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • 4-year degree from an accredited university in business administration, public administration, management, international studies, or a related field
    • 3 years of relevant professional experience

    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Experience with and interest in international government programs and nuclear security
    • Active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

    • Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams as well as working knowledge of SharePoint
    • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and professional
    • Must be able to manage a heavy workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced government environment
    • Must be able to meet or exceed short turnaround deadlines
    • Experience working well with senior management and team members
    • Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to obtain a DOE Q (TS equivalent) clearance
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift a min of 15 pounds at times.
    • Travel to domestic and international locations may be required, as requested. (Up to 15%)
