    Job Description

Perlman Clinic is a growing primary and urgent care provider with many locations in San Diego, CA and we’re looking for a full-stack developer to join a young, exciting healthcare company. Projects to work on include telemedicine — we launched PocketDoc (pocketdocapp.com) —, patient engagement tools, and other focus areas. We are looking for someone who gets excited by API integrations, desktop apps, and mobile apps. Passion for innovation, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail are all important for this role.

This role might be for you if:

    • You have a passion for innovation and routinely think outside the box — taking an abstract idea and turning it into a functional tool.
    • You’re comfortable taking a project and running with it solo — from design to testing and all the way to production. You can be the product manager, the designer, and the developer.
    • You get excited about doing user research, tracking down bottlenecks, and implementing changes to improve our services for both patients and providers.

    Job requirements:

    • We are looking for candidates with at least a year or two of professional experience building customer-facing products using React and/or React Native.
    • Experience working with Go a plus but work with any similarly typed languages is also fine. We’re looking for comfort moving about and tinkering in such codebases.

Other indicators that you might be a good fit for the role:

    • You have experience tinkering with React component optimization and writing tests for your code.
    • You have previous experience building backends using PHP/Go/Rust/Objective-C/Swift etc.
    • You’re happy with your basic design skills. You won’t be expected to design an entire site in Photoshop but having a solid grasp of padding, contrast, and color usage will be highly beneficial.
    • You’ve worked on feature development as both a member of a team and solo, and are comfortable taking on projects in both domains.
    • You’ve got a creative eye and are always looking for ways to improve existing tools or recognize bottlenecks in existing systems. Not every problem we’re solving is well defined or understood.

About the hiring process: Once you’ve cleared the initial phone screening we’ll send along a short questionnaire asking a few technical questions that will help us gauge if this will be a good position for you. After that, we’ll sit down for a face-to-face (Zoom) interview to get to know you better. As part of our process, you will also be sent a short programming challenge to complete using React after the initial face-to-face interview.

    Our stack:

    • Go backend running within AWS.
    • React (Typescript) frontend using Tailwind CSS for designs. Deployments automated via GitHub CI.
    • Deep integrations with EPIC EMR (electronic medical records system), Postmark, and Twilio.
    • React Native app to facilitate patient and provider telemedicine appointments.
