    Job Title: Permit Rider Location: Near Rifle, Colorado – Forest Service (FS) Permit Area Employment Type: Seasonal (with potential for full-time)

    Job Summary:

    Redd Summit Ranches is seeking a capable and self-motivated Permit Rider for our Forest Service grazing permit near Rifle, Colorado. This is a remote camp job requiring the ability to work independently in mountainous terrain while supporting all aspects of range management and livestock care.

    Job Details:

    • Must have your own horses and be able to move cattle through the mountain country.
    • Live on-site at a remote mountain camp cabin throughout the season.
    • Must be able to work alone, follow directions from the Ranch Manager, and stay aligned with Forest Service AOI and regulations.
    • Opportunity for season-end bonus and potential for a full-time position.

    Duties Include:

    • Riding range and monitoring herd location and behavior.
    • Moving cattle between pastures in accordance with FS grazing plan.
    • Monitoring forage, water sources, and herd health daily.
    • Preventing cattle from entering poison areas.
    • Putting out salt and mineral as needed.
    • Performing basic fencing repairs and maintenance.
    • Accurately following FS AOI guidelines and permit rules.
    • Reporting regularly to the Ranch Manager.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong horsemanship and cattle handling skills.
    • Experience in remote camp living.
    • Familiarity with mountain range conditions and public land permits.
    • Ability to ride long distances and work in rugged outdoor environments.
    • Dependability and self-motivation.

    Compensation:

    • Competitive wage based on experience.
    • Possible bonus for staying through the entire season.
    • Potential for full-time position following seasonal work.
