    Job Summary: This position provides custodial and personal care services to clients who contract with Assisting Hands, under the direction of the Staffing Coordinator, in accordance with each client’s Plan of Care.

    Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Qualifications:

    One (1) year of experience in a home or long-term care setting is preferred.

    Staffing Coordinator

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Maintain a Clean and Safe Environment:

    Perform light cleaning and straightening tasks in the client’s residence, including bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms.

    Wash dishes, laundry, and complete other cleaning tasks to ensure a safe, sanitary, and comfortable living space for the client.

    Provide Personal Care Services:

    Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, ambulation, exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfers, and other tasks as outlined in the Plan of Care.

    Nutritional Support:

    Assist clients with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional support as necessary.

    Monitor Client’s Health:

    Report any changes in the client’s physical or emotional condition to the Staffing Coordinator.

    Additional Client-Specific Activities:

    Assist with the use of mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, hoyer lifts).

    Support prescribed range of motion exercises and other physical activities.

    Teach and assist family members with household routines and basic care skills.

    Measure and record fluid intake and output, vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure), and other health metrics as needed.

    Maintain accurate records of personal health care activities and report any changes in client’s condition or appearance.

    Monitor client’s behavior for any significant changes and report these observations to the agency supervisor.

    Medication Assistance:

    Assist clients with self-administered medication, including:

    Retrieving the medication from its storage location, reading the label, and opening the container.

    Helping the client take the medication as prescribed (e.g., placing the dosage in their hand, assisting with swallowing).

    Recording the assistance provided and ensuring medication is stored properly after use.

    Assist with preparation of necessary items such as water, juice, or cups to facilitate the medication process.

    Support the client with physical tasks such as steadying their hand or arm to ensure proper medication administration.

    Infection Control & Compliance:

    Adhere to infection control policies and procedures, including proper hand hygiene techniques in accordance with CDC Guidelines.

    Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the agency’s Policy and Procedure Manual, Caregiver Handbook, and Caregiver Training Manual.

    Hours:

    Hours are dependent on the assignment and client needs. Shifts are available 24/7 based on availability. Assisting Hands cannot guarantee a set number of hours.
