    Personal Injury Legal Assistant - Full Time

    Key Trial Lawyers is a growing plaintiff's trial firm representing clients in personal injury, medical malpractice, and employment litigation. We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated legal assistant to work directly with our attorneys, performing a variety of complex legal and administrative support duties. The ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, capable of working with limited supervision, and committed to helping us meet all our clients' needs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Maintains and organizes physical and electronic client files, including medical records, billing records, and case chronologies

    Requests, tracks, and organizes medical records, medical bills, and employment records; prepares HIPAA authorizations and records requests

    Prepares medical chronologies and damages summaries in support of demand packages and case evaluation

    Prepares, reviews, and edits legal correspondence and standard legal documents, including demand letters, discovery responses, and settlement documentation

    Calendars and monitors critical deadlines, including statutes of limitations, Chapter 74 pre-suit notice periods, expert report deadlines, and EEOC/TWC charge and right-to-sue deadlines

    Files legal documents with state and federal courts and administrative agencies as required

    Manages attorney calendars, including scheduling appointments, depositions, mediations, and court dates

    Assists in coordinating discovery, including calendaring, document production, deposition preparation, and preparation of exhibits

    Communicates with insurance adjusters, medical providers, and records custodians on case status and documentation requests

    Assists with lien and subrogation tracking, including health insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, and letters of protection

    Coordinates with retained experts and treating providers on scheduling and document delivery

    Conducts basic legal research and gathers relevant case information

    Communicates professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel

    Reviews and distributes incoming mail; screens telephone calls for attorneys

    Greets clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner

    Provides general administrative support to attorneys and staff as needed

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Associate's degree or equivalent work experience (Bachelor's degree preferred)

    Knowledge of general office practices and legal terminology

    Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, legal case management software, and E-filing systems preferred

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, and/or plaintiff's employment law

    Familiarity with medical records and medical billing terminology

    Familiarity with state and federal court filing procedures and local rules

    Compensation starting at $24/hr
