  • Responsibilities

    The Cartwright Law Firm is seeking a full-time legal assistant/paralegal to join our litigation practice. Any applicant must have practical knowledge of personal injury litigation in San Francisco and the surrounding counties and be comfortable referencing local rules for calendaring purposes. This position supports attorneys who practice in personal injury litigation. COMPENSATION: • Based on experience BENEFITS: • Health insurance • Paid time off • Paid Holidays Responsibilities: • Ordering medical and billing records and electronically filing in state and federal courts • Create and proofread pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and papers for case preparation • Draft correspondence, government claims, pleadings, and filing documents in State and Federal Courts • Prepare and serve subpoenas • Ordering medical records and bills • Initiating Medi-care and Medi-cal Claims • High proficiency in calendaring court deadlines and ensuring that important deadlines are met for cases in the office • Manage and respond to Yelp leads • Schedule/coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations Qualifications: • Experience with legal software, litigation case management, and docketing programs • Organizational and communication skills are necessary for this position • Able to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary • 1-2 years of prior experience in a personal injury law firm as a secretary or administrative assistant ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Paralegal Certificate or bachelor’s degree preferred • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), Adobe, Dropbox, Filevine, One Legal, Pacer, Clio Grow, and other database systems • Highly organized multitasker • Strong time management and written and verbal communication skills • Strong work ethic • Detail-oriented, pride in work, self-starter, self-disciplined Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 depending on experience
