Responsibilities: • Evaluate risk for acceptance, rejection, or modification in compliance with company guidelines and procedures for Homeowners and Personal Auto lines of business. • Review and evaluate requests from agents for approval of situations that may fall outside the established underwriting guidelines. • Review and evaluate incoming policy change requests. • Review and evaluate risk alerts based upon activity and information provided from claim adjusters, and make decisions regarding renewal impact. • Review and promptly respond to incoming e-mails/phone calls and correspondence from agents, assistants, and internal employees. • Process daily, weekly, and monthly workbench items requiring underwriting action. • Ability to make decisions, follow procedures, follow the letter of authority, and work within the published department service standards. • Provide input on products and procedures. • Assist with special projects as assigned. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • 2+ years of Personal lines underwriting experience is highly preferred. • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask and make decisions. • Strong team player. • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and multitask. • Demonstrated proficient personal computer skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Suite. • Additional education in insurance or other industry-related coursework is preferred. Interest in pursuing additional education in the insurance industry. • Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Hmong, etc.) a plus. Compensation: $50,000 - $52,000 yearly
