Responsibilities: • Evaluate risk for acceptance, rejection, or modification in compliance with underwriting guidelines for Homeowners and Personal Auto policies. • Review agent requests for exceptions to underwriting standards and provide timely decisions. • Assess incoming policy change requests and determine appropriate action. • Analyze risk alerts from claim adjusters and decide on renewal impacts. • Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, and correspondence from agents, assistants, and internal staff. • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly underwriting tasks via workbench systems. • Make decisions within your letter of authority and follow department service standards. • Provide input on product development and underwriting procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Required 2+ years of experience working in an insurance underwriter role, preferably in personal lines. • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. • Self-motivated with the ability multitask and to work both independently and as a team. • Demonstrated proficient personal computer skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Suite. • Additional education in insurance or other industry-related coursework is preferred. Interest in pursuing additional education in the insurance industry. • Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Hmong, etc.) are a plus. Compensation: $70,000 - $85,000 yearly
