The Personal Trainer & Member Experience Specialist plays a key role in creating an exceptional member experience while supporting gym operations, member engagement, and personal training growth.This position combines personal training, member support, front desk responsibilities, facility upkeep, and community engagement. Team members are expected to build relationships with members, maintain a welcoming environment, support club cleanliness standards, and actively contribute to the growth of personal training services.At Snap Fitness Owatonna, staff are expected to be visible, engaged, and proactive—not simply sitting behind the front desk.
Key Responsibilities
Member Experience & Engagement
Work the front desk
Build relationships with members
Walk the floor and engage with members during shifts
Assist members with basic equipment questions
Promote classes, training services, challenges, and amenities
Personal Training Growth & Coaching
Conduct personal training sessions professionally outside of scheduled staffed hours
Support member goal setting
Assist with new member fitness orientations
Maintain client notes and progress tracking
Instruct group fitness classes with energy and professionalism, ensuring safe movement, proper coaching cues, and an encouraging environment for all members.
Front Desk Operations
Conduct tours for prospective members
Answer questions regarding memberships and amenities
Manage phone calls, emails, and messages as assigned
Enroll new members into memberships
Facility Standards & Cleaning
Follow all shift cleaning checklists
Re-rack weights and organize equipment
Content & Community Contribution
Participate in social media content creation
Capture photos and videos when requested
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification or ability to obtain certification within an agreed-upon timeframe
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to communicate professionally with members, guests, and staff
Reliable, dependable, and punctual
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Comfortable using technology including email, scheduling software, social media, and basic computer systems
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
Previous personal training experience
Experience working in a fitness facility
Experience in customer service, hospitality, retail, sales, or member services
Group fitness instruction experience
Knowledge of strength training, functional training, and exercise programming
Sales or membership enrollment experience
Experience building relationships and community engagement
