    IT Business Analyst - Finance / Accounting Summary

    The Business Analyst will provide company-wide strategic, analytical, and technical support for financial applications including, but not limited to the JD Edwards ERP System, Workday, and various other HR, Financial and Operations related systems. The Business Analyst will serve as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with internal business clients, vendors, customers, and other internal IT groups to provide advisory, implementation, and tier three application support services.

     

    IT Business Analyst - Finance / Accounting Responsibilities

    • Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis
    • Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, end- users, and vendors to elicit and document business requirements for new applications, defect resolution, upgrades, enhancements, and other support requests for existing applications
    • Works with the Stakeholders to define the product roadmaps and backlogs
    • Evaluates alternate solutions and design processes and systems which includes user impact considerations, cost and benefit analysis, and processing specifications
    • Uses current knowledge of business and technology to recommend systems and process improvements
    • Performs ongoing monitoring and refinement of supported applications and business processes
    • Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and works with customers to uncover unmet business needs
    • Analyzes, documents and tests program development, logic, process flows and specifications
    • Partners with support analysts, stakeholders, end users, vendors, and customers to conduct user acceptance testing with documented test cases
    • Documents user manuals to describe application installation and operating procedures
    • Trains and educates other team members around core technologies and assists with delivering high quality solutions and deliverables/documentation.
    • Coordinates the project resources to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget while driving projects to completion

     

    IT Business Analyst - Finance / Accounting Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree – preferably in Accounting and/or Computer Science disciplines
    • Minimum five years of business analysis experience in the finance or accounting area
    • Knowledge of SQL Server, SQL, and XML preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in modeling business systems, defining requirements, and drafting test cases
    • Experience supporting custom and third-party business applications
    • ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, PBA, and related certifications a plus
    • Proven ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures
    • Ability to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements
    • Excellent understanding of business complexity, project interdependencies, and system integrations
    • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
    • In depth understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
    • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and exercise independent judgment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Professional image with the ability to form meaningful partner relationships across functions
    • Experience with one or more of the following is essential: JD Edwards, Job Set Up and Maintenance, General Accounting (year-end close, month end, journal entries, etc.), (Subcontracts: contract management, payment terms, etc.), Payroll, Fleet
