    Business Analyst Summary

     

    This position is responsible for providing company-wide strategic, analytical, and technical support for business applications.The Business Analyst will serve as an intermediary between the business community and the technical community working with internal business clients, vendors, customers, and other internal IT groups to collect, clarify, translate, and create business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, etc.

     

    Business Analyst Responsibilities

    • Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, end- users, and vendors to elicit and document business requirements for new applications, defect resolutions, upgrades, enhancements, and other support requests for existing applications
    • Elicits requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process mapping, use cases, scenarios, business value analysis, and task and workflow analysis
    • Evaluates alternate solutions and design processes and systems which includes user impact considerations, cost and benefit analysis, and processing specifications
    • Uses current knowledge of business and technology to recommend systems and process improvements
    • Critically evaluates information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts, abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding, and works with customers to uncover unmet business needs
    • Works closely with the assigned project manager(s) and other project resource to deliver high quality applications and process improvements

     

    Business Analyst Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
    • 5+ years of business analysis experience
    • Insurance Industry Experience is a must
    • Demonstrated experience in writing requirements
    • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to question thought partners across functional areas
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
    • In depth understanding of the various software development lifecycles (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Professional image with the ability to form meaningful partner relationships across functions
