The Pest Control Technician is responsible for performing inspections, identifying pest issues, developing customized treatment plans, and applying effective pest control solutions to eliminate and prevent infestations in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations. This role is crucial in protecting public health and property, requiring strong technical knowledge and excellent customer service skills.
Inspection and Assessment: Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial properties (including basements, attics, crawlspaces, and exteriors) to identify signs of pest activity, determine the type of pest, and locate entry points.
Treatment Application: Select, mix, and safely apply chemical and non-chemical treatments (e.g., baits, traps, exclusion methods, and pesticides) according to label instructions and established safety protocols (OSHA/FIFRA).
Pest Management Plan Development: Design and implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies tailored to the client's needs and environment.
Customer Communication: Effectively communicate findings, explain treatment plans, provide cost estimates, and educate clients on preventative measures to minimize future infestations.
Documentation and Reporting: Accurately complete all required daily service reports, chemical usage logs, and paperwork, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Equipment Management: Safely operate and maintain company vehicles, power spraying equipment, foggers, and other tools.6 Perform minor repairs on equipment as needed.
Route Management: Efficiently manage a daily service route, ensuring timely completion of all scheduled appointments.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: 1+ year of professional pest control experience preferred.
Licensing & Certification:
Required: Current New York State Pesticide Applicator's License (e.g., Category 7A/Structural).
Required: Valid U.S. Driver's License and a clean driving record for operating a company vehicle.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of the biology and behavior of common Brooklyn pests (rodents, cockroaches, bedbugs, termites, etc.) and best practices for their control.
This is an active, demanding position that involves working in various indoor and outdoor environments. Candidates must be able to:
Work independently in various weather conditions.
Lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs ) and materials frequently.
Work in confined spaces, including attics, crawl spaces, and utility rooms.
Perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and stooping for extended periods.
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, goggles, and respirators, when handling chemicals.
