Job Description

At a PetWell, we offer specialized tracks for 1st - 3rd-year students.  We look to host veterinary students who are eager to learn from our experienced veterinarians.  You will spend most of your time at one hospital but there in certain geographic areas, there are opportunities to visit multiple hospitals during your externships.  We host externs year-round for usually 2 - 4 weeks per student.  We can be flexible on scheduling and length of externship. 

We have 50 hospitals across 8 states (TX (Houston, DFW, Austin), AZ (Phoenix, Payson), OK (OKC, Tulsa, Edmond), OR (Beaverton, Portland, Lake Oswego), WA (Seattle, Everett), PA (Gettysburg), MD (Frederick), VA (Manassas, Montclair, Purcellville)) offering a wide range of services for companion animals from GP, ER, Feline only, Speciality and more. 

You'll have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience through our externship or summer jobs.  You’ll learn how to provide proper veterinary care, assist in physical exams, proper use of diagnostic tools, observe and participate in surgical preparation and monitoring, and develop your professional interpersonal skills working with a team of professionals. 

Qualifications

• must be a first- through third-year veterinary student enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program;
• authorized to work in the United States;
• available during your summer break, up to 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
• Focused on Companion Animal Medicine
