    Job Description

    POSITION:                              HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST I

    REPORTS TO:                          DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

    DEPARTMENT:                        HUMAN RESOURCES

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Organizes, manages, supervises and initiates a wide variety of Human Resources functions, activities and projects across the spectrum of Human Resources, but specifically as outlined below.

    DUTIES:

    PAYROLL

    ·         Perform daily payroll functions as requested by the Human Resources Administrator or Director of Human Resources.

    ·         Supervise the running and processing of bi-weekly payroll reports including processing time and attendance records from electronic files.

    ·         Serve as secondary for the reconciliation of payroll prior to transmission and validate reporting.

    ·         Serve as the secondary point of contact to all employees for matters related to payroll.

     

    BENEFITS

    ·         Perform the day to day operational functions required for group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, all life products, FSA and 401(k) plans).

    ·         Assist accounting team with the monthly reconciliation of all benefits billing.

    ·         Manages the administration of annual and new employee benefit enrollment process.

    ·         Acts of liaison between employees and carriers and assists employees with problem solving of benefit related issues.

    ·         Responsible for maintaining Affordable Care Act (ACA) suite within HRIS and assists Director of Human Resources in the resolution of ACA issues. 

    ·         Responsible of all data entry into the HRIS related to benefits.

    ·         Serve as primary point of contact for all employees in matters related to benefits and use of Petra’s HRIS.

     

    DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

    ·         Issue and administer corrective actions needed because of Petra’s Attendance Point System.

    ·         Serve as a representative of Human Resources during any employee corrective action discussion.

    ·         Responsible for ensuring all documentation is entered into employee’s file because of any corrective action and responsible for maintaining corrective action tracking logs.

    ·         As provided by Company Management, document concerns and challenges pertaining to individual performance and if necessary, administer performance improvement programs (PIP) in collaboration with Director of Human Resources.

     

    COMPLIANCE

    ·         Administers all aspects of the Family and Medical Leave Act in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.

    ·         Assist Director of Human Resources with requests for reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

    ·         Serve as the primary point of contact for employees who are utilizing FMLA or have received accommodations under the ADA/ADAA.

    o    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, apprising employees of their available FMLA hours, ensuring any granted accommodations are successful for both the employee and the company and ensuring all needed documentation is present in the employee’s personnel file.

    ·         Submit to Petra’s workers’ compensation carrier and monitor all workers’ compensation cases using Petra’s established processes and procedures.

    ·         Supports and coordinates investigation of unemployment claims, drafts routine responses and submits to OESC on behalf of Company.

     

    EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

    ·         Monitor current HR policies and procedures through auditing of usage by Company usage to ensure consistent enforcement and if necessary, revise, create or propose elimination if a policy or procedure is not meeting current business needs.

    ·         Support and manage training initiatives as identified by Company Management.

    ·         Coach and Support management on issues ranging from performance management, employee relations and promotions and transfer.

    ·         Maintains and assists in various reports as requested.

    ·         Consult with managers and staff on employee relations issues, conduct investigations and make recommendations in response to management and staff concerns.

    ·         Develop, lead and manage initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources and the Special Events Manager to include recognition programs and incentive programs.

    ·         Engage on a consistent and routine basis with employees to create and maintain a feedback loop between employees and management, includes engaging with new hires to ensure a smooth transition, identifying potential issues with all employees and becoming the face of HR. 

    ·         Responsible for developing, administering and managing new hire orientation process as well as overseeing the administration of new hire paperwork.

     

     

    General Duties

    ·         Assists Human Resources Administrator with ensuring employee files are accurate and up to date, including benefit and termination files.

    ·         Assist with the on-boarding processes as directed by the Director of Human Resources and Human Resources administrator.

    ·         Stay current on all laws, regulations and potential issues related to payroll, benefits and personnel in general.

    ·         Maintain high level of understanding of Petra’s HRIS.

    ·         Remains compliant with and familiar with all company policies and procedures and assists in the development of best practices and improvements.

    ·         Conducts oneself in a professional, courteous and friendly manner at all times when interacting with internal and external individuals.

     

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

     

    EDUCATION:

    ·         Bachelors degree in Business Management, Human Resources or related field preferred.

    ·         High School diploma or GED required.

    EXPERIENCE:

    ·         1-3 years experience in human resources required.

    ·         Previous payroll, benefits experience preferred.

    ·         Excellent communication skills.

    ·         Ability to handle and maintain confidential material and information.

    ·         A high level of self motivation, ability to multi-task and well organized.

    ·         Clear understanding of laws related to Human Resources.

    ·         Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
