SUMMARY
The Financial Proficiency Advisor, under general direction, will provide financial proficiency guidance and services to students. Services include assisting students in identifying financial goals; developing financial related outreach, presentations, and workshops for participating students and administration; interpreting financial assessments; and coordinating financial events. In addition, the Financial Proficiency Advisor will foster relationships in the greater San Antonio area. The candidate in this position will provide excellent customer service to employees, students, and the community. Responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the program.
This is a grant funded position that is set to last 5 months. Grant funded positions are contingent upon available grant funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and administer Financial Proficiency programs, including all program-related activities and budgets.
- Serves as primary liaison/facilitator with Member Institutions and corporations to promote the on-campus implementation of financial proficiency programs and represent the organization at functions and educational initiatives.
- Establish and maintain professional contacts with institutional leaders from Member Institutions, organize and participate in the train-the-trainer sessions, and assist in and oversee the development of on-campus program implementation plans to ensure the successful execution of the Financial Proficiency Program on campuses. Develops and maintains positive relationships with faculty/staff, and departments. Work with and advise faculty and college administration on methods to enhance the quality of financial proficiency and expand student participation.
- Serve as the point of contact for inquiries and work collaboratively with corporations to foster partnerships in support of the Financial Proficiency Program.
- Direct, monitor, and manage the Scholarship review and selection process and ensure scholarships are fully disbursed to students in a timely manner. Work with schools to promote scholarships.
- Create advertising and conducts marketing/outreach for the mentoring program under the Entrepreneurial Program, implement opportunities for students to meet, and oversee mentoring opportunities.
- Draft and prepare all communication materials regarding financial literacy including brochures, official letters to college Presidents, press releases, background papers, reports, and other written information, including reports to funders and corporate partners. Update program information on the webpage.
- Coordinate the distribution of financial literacy materials including curriculum and tool kits to schools being served by this grant.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position generally does not supervise employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required, degree preferred in Education, Counseling, Student Affairs or Business related.
- Working knowledge of higher education administration specifically within the community of Hispanic-Serving Institutions; knowledge and understanding of grants, regulations and contracting procedures is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and computer skills and/or training with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
