    Job Description

    The Distillation Technician will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of sophisticated equipment for conversion of the extracted cannabis material into high quality cannabis products for ingestion, inhalation, or topical application. 

    The Distillation Technician follows established procedures to refine crude cannabis oils to insure purity of the final product. The Distillation Technician runs post-processing equipment like rotary evaporators, vacuum ovens, wiped film distillation units and more. This position requires the Distillation Technician to perform distillation, decarboxylation, filtration, along with maintenance of post-processing equipment.   

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OR (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

    • Carry out all assigned duties including, but not limited to, distillation, extract processing, extraction, product formulation, filling and other manufacturing responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner that also complies with State Regulations, FDA cGMP’s, OSHA regulations, PharmaCann SOP’s, and all applicable laboratory procedures. 

    • Maintain the accurate inventory of all raw materials, finished products, and by-products of the cannabis manufacturing process.

    • Maintain a proactive behavior around the manufacturing facility. 

    • Develop expertise in distillation, extraction, refining, testing, and formulating methods of various cannabis compounds.

    • Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on associated equipment as required.

    • Process and package PharmaCann’s broad cannabis product line as needed.

    • Ensure compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product movement procedures.

    • Follow appropriate control measures to prevent mixing of dissimilar production components while following Current Good Manufacturing Practices. 

    • Perform in-process and post-process quality assurance sampling, testing, and visual inspections to ensure all products meets or exceeds PharmaCann’s specifications, along with patient and customer expectations. Such quality assurance work shall include, but not limited to:

      • Record and monitor process conditions to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures.

      • Proper weighing, data recording, and batch tracking throughout PharmaCann’s process.

      • Execute tests on required analytical equipment.

      • Work with 3rd party laboratories on sampling and lot control for their sample gathering and reporting.

      • Work with the internal QA/QC team on sampling and lot control for their sample gathering and reporting.

    • Continually strive to improve PharmaCann’s processes for improved patient and customer safety, quality, and efficient manufacturing.

    • Support new product and process development work with our Process/Product Development team.

    • Monitor and manage laboratory and processing equipment supplies and inventory.

    • Ability to author, edit, and execute manufacturing batch records and SOPs as required.

    • Report the results of work in verbal and written form.

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION: High School Diploma or G.E.D at a minimum

     

    AGE: State law requires that applicants be 21 years old to work for cultivation center

     

    EXPERIENCE: The ideal candidate will have at least one (1) to three (3) years of experience in manufacturing or laboratory environments in the food, pharmaceutical industries, or cannabis industries. Experience with short path and wiped film distillation is preferred.  Closed loop CO2 and ethanol extraction experience is also desirable. Familiarity with electrical control systems for various equipment with a focus on ensuring product safety and quality. 

     

    COMPETENCIES/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

    • Ability to work in a team environment.

    • Attention to detail.

    • Mechanically inclined. 

    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

    • Good documentation practices.

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time (i.e., weighing product, packaging).

    • Ability to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) related to the pharmaceutical industry.  

    • Availability to work occasional weekends and/or holidays.

    • Some travel may be required for training purposes .

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves and 75+ pounds with a buddy, carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving and making adjustments to process equipment. Ability to be fitted for, and wear protective gear.
