    Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) - Growth Opportunity Payless Drugs is seeking an experienced, motivated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead our Bessemer location. This is an opportunity for a pharmacist who wants more than a personnel role—someone ready to take ownership, build services, lead a team, and grow a community pharmacy. Our Bessemer location has strong upside potential, an existing compounding lab with expansion opportunity, and the ability to develop new revenue channels, including compounding services and long-term care at home support. What You’ll Do Leadership & Operations • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge and ensure full regulatory compliance • Lead daily workflow, personnel, scheduling, and accountability • Build a high-performance customer service culture • Improve efficiency, patient retention, and prescription growth • Monitor inventory, profitability, and operational metrics Clinical & Business Growth • Help relaunch and expand our non-sterile compounding program • Identify opportunities for medication synchronization, adherence, immunizations, and specialty services • Support the launch of LTC at Home services for assisted and independent living patients • Build referral relationships with providers, facilities, and community partners Technology & Systems • Utilize advanced pharmacy systems and workflow tools • Experience with PioneerRx is strongly preferred • Familiarity with phone/IVR systems such as Lumistry (formerly Vow) a plus • Use data and reporting to drive smarter decisions What We’re Looking For Required • Active Alabama Pharmacist license in good standing • Prior retail/community pharmacy experience • Strong leadership and communication skills • Ability to manage staff and hold standards • Business-minded mindset with a desire to grow a store • Current CPR certification • Immunization Certification • Outcomes ready Preferred • Prior PIC/pharmacy manager experience • Non-sterile compounding experience or strong interest in compounding • Experience with PioneerRx • Familiarity with independent pharmacy operations • Experience building relationships and driving local business growth Compensation & Benefits • Competitive pharmacist compensation based on experience • Leadership opportunity with growth upside • Safe Harbor 401(k) with employer contribution • Additional retirement opportunities available • Paid time off • Professional autonomy with direct ownership support • Opportunity to help build new revenue lines Apply Today If you are ready to lead a pharmacy, grow compounding services, and make a real impact in Bessemer, we’d like to speak with you. Responsibilities: • Lead all aspects of pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and company policies. • Build and grow the pharmacy by developing patient relationships, expanding clinical services, and fostering partnerships with local healthcare providers and the community. • Champion the development and expansion of our non-sterile compounding program, including helping establish workflows, quality standards, and new compounded therapies. • Recruit, coach, and hold team members accountable to deliver exceptional patient care, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service. • Optimize workflow and technology using PioneerRx and other pharmacy automation tools to improve efficiency, patient outcomes, and profitability. • Manage inventory, financial performance, quality metrics, and operational KPIs while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. • Collaborate with ownership to develop and implement strategic initiatives, including expansion into Long-Term Care at Home services and other innovative pharmacy programs. Qualifications: • Active Alabama Pharmacist license in good standing (or eligible for Alabama licensure). • Previous experience as a Pharmacist in Charge, Pharmacy Manager, or demonstrated leadership in a community pharmacy setting is preferred. • Experience with or a strong interest in non-sterile compounding and expanding pharmacy clinical services. • Proficiency with pharmacy management software; PioneerRx experience strongly preferred. • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop pharmacy staff while fostering a culture of accountability and exceptional patient care. • Strong business acumen with a passion for growing prescription volume, patient services, and community relationships. • Self-motivated, enterprising mindset with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Compensation: $50 - $62 hourly
