About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy operations with enthusiasm and precision. Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the pharmacy team, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, to ensure efficient and compliant operations
Oversee medication dispensing, compounding medications, and IV infusion preparation following USP 797 standards and aseptic techniques
Ensure adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
Conduct patient assessments, provide medication counseling, immunizations, and support pain management initiatives across acute care, hospital, community, or LTC (Long-Term Care) settings
Maintain accurate inventory management of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies while ensuring proper storage conditions
Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Record (EHR), and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation and medication administration tracking
Ensure pharmacy operations meet regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and drug regulation policies
Requirements:
Active Texas Pharmacist license in good standing
Proven experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist with strong knowledge of pharmacy laws at the state and federal levels
Demonstrated leadership managing pharmacy teams in fast-paced environments such as hospital or LTC pharmacies
Extensive clinical pharmacy experience including patient care, medical management, pediatrics, pain management, and acute care settings
Hands-on experience with compounding medications using aseptic techniques in accordance with USP 797 standards
Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, inventory management tools, EMR/EHR systems, and pharmacy automation technology
Critical care experience or hospital experience is highly desirable; experience with immunizations and healthcare compliance is essential
Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology principles related to medication administration and drug regulation policies
Previous experience as a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) or pharmacy management preferred
Strong knowledge of Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations and DEA compliance
Ability to lead, train, and motivate a pharmacy team effectively
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
