About the Role
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to provide onsite services at FCI Greenville and FPC. The role involves direct collaboration with medical staff and independent decision-making in pharmacy operations.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy and safety
- Monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions, and allergies
- Maintain and update patient medication records and profiles
- Dispense and store medications using proper techniques
- Conduct inventory checks and ensure proper drug rotation and storage
- Provide drug information and consultation to medical staff
- Investigate and report adverse drug reactions (ADR)
- Ensure compliance with federal healthcare standards (JCAHO, DEA, FDA, BOP)
- Report rule infractions by adults in custody to appropriate authorities
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed pharmacist
- Active Pharmacist License from any state
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school or program
- Current CPR certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
- Must be free of infectious diseases and meet employee health requirements
Additional Details
- All supplies and equipment provided by the institution
- Contractor will not supervise inmates or staff
- Frequent unsupervised contact with adults in custody
- Independent contractor status (not a federal employee)
- Services may be subject to delays due to institutional operations
