  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Prescription Processing:

    • Accurately and efficiently fill prescription orders. Filling via vials or blister packing
    • Measure dosage of medications, according to prescription orders
    • Understand regulatory requirements for filling and labeling prescriptions.
    • Assist with both inbound and outbound phone calls.
    • Identify which calls can be addressed independently and which require redirection to a pharmacist (e.g., new prescriptions, medication consultations).
    • Troubleshoot delivery concerns and communicate issues effectively to customers, pharmacies, or peers.

    Customer Interaction:

    • Understand HIPAA privacy rules and ensure proper communication and paperwork completion.
    • Verify patient information (name, address, date of birth, insurance, etc.), number of prescriptions and coordinate consultations with pharmacists.

    Documentation and Delivery:

    • Follow protocol for pharmacy deliveries via internal or external couriers, including outbound calls to confirm receipt.
    • Batch reconcile deliveries within the pharmacy system and file paperwork according to policy.
    • File all documentation according to policy and/or law.

    Inventory and Maintenance:

    • Maintain appropriate stock of vials, lids, printer paper, and labels, and communicate low stock issues.
    • Assist Inventory Technician with out-dates and proper shelf maintenance monthly.
    • Maintain a clean working environment, including personal space and entire premises (e.g., trash removal, cleaning shelves, floors, bathrooms, counters, and breakroom).
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:

    • Must be Certified by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
    • Must possess six months of experience in retail or hospital pharmacy setting OR be a graduate of an Academic Technician Training Educational Program.

    Education Required:

    • A high school diploma or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
    • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
      • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs.

    Other Special Qualifications:

    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
    • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

    Compensation| Min: Pay is negotiable.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data will determine the final salary and offer.
