    Responsibilities

    The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician position is to perform a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose medication distribution system and intravenous admixture program. Responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, prepare intravenous medication including, but not limited to, chemotherapy, and hyper-alimentations, fill automated medication dispensing system with unit dose medications, procure, and fill requests for pharmaceutical supplies and deliver supplies. Responsible for assisting the Senior Buyer in ordering, managing, and maintaining inventory.

    Selecting the proper medication and/or accessory from stock necessary to match label generated and/or cartfill list. Labels and prepares product in accordance with Pharmacy Practice standards and Hospital Policies and Procedures and delivers all checked medications including, but not limited to, controlled substances, IV’s, chemotherapy, leeches, floorstock, etc. to respective area

    Using automated dispensing system printout, refilling automated dispensing system (MedStations) to prescribed par levels as per departmental policies and procedures

    Maintaining and restocking individual filling stations and work areas, including all satellites while contributing to the maintenance of a fixed, minimal level of pharmacy inventory. Responsible for inventory control/purchasing activity as required to maintain departmental inventory at appropriate levels

    Prepackaging and labeling medications into unit doses from bulk supply and maintains accurate records as per policy and procedure.

    Compounds and reconstitutes medications under the direction of pharmacist when needed.

    Requirements

    Must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy.

    National Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) required or must be obtained within one (1) year of date of hire.

    Shifts:

    1st Shift: 8:00am – 4:30pm

    2nd Shift: 3:30pm – 12am

    3rd Shift: 11:30pm – 8am
