(PEI) is a progressive land development and public infrastructure civil engineering and land surveying design firm. We are located in Olathe, Johnson County, KS (Kansas City area) which is one of the region’s fastest growing areas.

    We are seeking a Civil Engineer with a background in stormwater/water resources engineering. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 4 years of Civil Engineering design experience and have a PE license in Kansas or the ability to obtain within 6 months. This position involves designing storm sewers, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater detention, stormwater treatment design, floodplain modeling and permitting and related civil stormwater designs under the supervision of project manager/principal engineer. The position also requires extensive communication with team members and outside authorities (city, utility, client representatives). The successful applicant will be a self-starter, motivated to meet deadlines and budgets and possess the ability to clearly communicate their design intentions to other team members. Additionally, the applicant must have strong interpersonal, technical, written and general computer skills, and ability to work well with others in a team environment.

    SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Prepare stormwater reports for new development projects.
    • Stormwater engineering on land development and public infrastructure projects.
    • Lead team effort with other team engineers and technicians as necessary to complete specific water resource engineering tasks within larger complex projects
    • Perform and review engineering design on stormwater pipe systems, detention and pond designs, and treatment facilities.
    • Perform floodplain modeling and studies.
    • Lead water resource permitting with FEMA and local agencies.
    • Meet with clients and jurisdictional agencies to present and discuss stormwater designs.
    • Field evaluation of existing detention and treatment systems for certification renewals.
    • Contribute to business development, marketing, and proposal preparation efforts.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS - CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent level of experience
    • PE License in Kansas (or ability to obtain in 6 months)
    • 4 years of Civil Engineering - water resource experience or equivalent experience
    • Working proficiency of AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Desire to succeed!
