    Are you a Tennessee-licensed criminal defense attorney looking to work with an experienced trial lawyer who will give you opportunities to further your legal career? If so, we are looking for you! Our firm is hiring an associate attorney who will assist in all aspects of criminal casework and client care. The ideal candidate will have some courtroom experience and strong legal advocacy skills. As the firm’s first-ever Associate Attorney, you will assist with minimal supervision in all aspects of criminal casework and client care. Daily duties will include new client onboarding, motions practice, discovery review, DUI video review, court appearances, case negotiations and settlements, field investigations, witness interviews, preliminary hearings, client updates, phone consultations, office consultations, and case file upkeep. As a regional firm, we expect you will use your personal vehicle to attend out-of-town court settings, which we will reimburse at the federal mileage rate. We’re not like other firms. You will adhere to high expectations for professionalism, five-star client service, team-based casework, creative problem-solving, and meticulous, process-oriented workflows. We will give you the support and resources to meet our high standards. Your bar fees, professional privilege tax, and annual CLE requirements will be covered. Your development in handling larger and more serious cases will be encouraged. Our goal for you is to become a self-sufficient trial lawyer capable of first-chairing the most serious trials while also growing in your leadership skills to help associates who come behind you. Although we do not currently offer full benefits, we intend to add them as the firm grows. In the meantime, we intend to pay you enough to cover your costs in seeking health, life, and disability insurance in the marketplace. Compensation offered will be commensurate with your experience, passion, and demonstrated potential, ranging from $67,500 to $83,500 annually, with performance-based raises considered after your first six months and thereafter annually. Responsibilities: • Attend court settings, negotiate with prosecutors, and conduct preliminary hearings • Evaluate criminal cases for sentencing exposure and defense strategies • Advise clients of their rights and options • Guide clients in making legal decisions that are best suited to the client's goals considering the exposure and defense strategy of each case • Maintain digital files in an organized and detailed fashion to enable team-based delivery of legal services and client communication • Adhere to internal law-firm guidelines and standards to ensure consistent, excellent service is given to each client • Contribute to the development and implementation of systems, processes, and checklists in a growing law firm that believes in team-based, client-centered representation Qualifications: • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee (please include your B.P.R. Number on your resume) • Two years or more of experience in criminal law • Willingness to travel throughout West Tennessee up to three times each week • Strong commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of every client Compensation: $67,500 - $83,500 yearly
