SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the Development and Donor Services team, this position is responsible for developing and implementing a plan for increasing awareness of the San Antonio Area Foundation among prospective donors and the broader community. This position will have shared responsibility for working with individuals and families to establish charitable funds at the Area Foundation. This position is expected to manage and expand a portfolio of donor funds through effective donor stewardship and inclusive philanthropy strategies. This position is funded by a three-year grant.

- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, volunteers and other staff
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years’ experience in fund development; major gift planning and solicitation experience a plus.
TASKS/DUTIES
Asset Growth
- Meets with existing, new and prospective donors with the goal of increasing assets.
- Initiates and completes both the opening of new funds and outright gifts to the community foundation’s strategic initiatives and unrestricted funds.
- Coordinates with the donor services and donor engagement teams to ensure smooth stewardship transitions for our newest donors.
- Reaches out to, follow up with, manage and actively steward assigned prospects who have come to SAAFDN through our referral network.
- Maintains a portfolio of donors for continued donor engagement and stewardship.
- Develops and implements a plan for increasing awareness of the Area Foundation among prospective donors.
Prospect Research & Data Management
- Identify and track prospects for new funds and special initiatives, including individuals, families, businesses, private foundations, nonprofits, professional advisors.
- Manage database records for prospects and new funds.
- In partnership with the Vice President Development and Donor Services, establish a system to track and record contacts.
- Actively seek opportunities for the Area Foundation to make community presentations and work closely with staff to speakers. Make presentations on behalf of the Area Foundation.
- Identify and engage new donor segments.
- Actively participate in the creation of annual department and individual goals and strategies.
- Ability to travel throughout the Area Foundation’s service area and to work some evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Compensation: $75k-$85k
