Certified Phlebotomist Per diem

Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection and specimen processing procedures with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion. This role supports laboratory operations during night shifts, ensuring timely and high-quality specimen collection and processing in compliance with established policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture, capillary, and arterial collections on patients of all age groups.

Accurately label, handle, and transport specimens to ensure integrity for testing.

Verify patient identification and maintain confidentiality of all patient information.

Maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment; report any malfunctions or shortages.

Follow infection control, biohazard, and safety guidelines at all times.

Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and lab personnel.

Prioritize STAT and emergency collections as needed.

Enter patient and specimen data accurately into the laboratory information system (LIS).

Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.

Current Phlebotomy Certification (CPT I or CPT II, as applicable)

Phlebotomy experience preferred (hospital or clinical setting).

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night shifts.
