    SUMMARY:

    The Technical Writer I-V reports up through the Program Management team and writes and/or edits technical documents, including business proposals, reports, manuals, briefings and presentations, guidelines, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.    The candidate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment supporting critical client applications, working as a part of a team, inclusive of customers, and demonstrate written and communication skills to ensure success.  The Technical Writer is expected to manage content development by integrating material from subject matter experts. This role acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations.  The incumbent will also research and gather the technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables. Additionally, this position will be assigned other projects or tasks in alignment with the level and scope of the position.

    This is a contingent position based on funding from the customer.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise (level V) technical writing efforts.
    • Lead and deliver+ all components of supported documentation projects for multiple Agile development teams.
    • Review and edit documents developed by others to ensure accuracy and quality of content, organization, language, format consistency, and conformance with established standards.
    • Work with technical staff to develop documentation requirements
    • Maintain records, documents and files of work and revisions.
    • Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management
    • Ensure that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations
    • Consult relevant information sources, technical documents, and project personnel, to obtain background information.
    • Determine presentation subjects or content.
    • Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of JLCCTC Program activities may be required.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline Technical Communication, Journalism, English, Computer Science, Engineering
    • Minimum of Five (5) to Eight (8) years of experience (dependent on position level) supporting IT projects/programs or relevant Technical Writing experience.
    • Strong research and technical writing skills including detail orientation and knowledge of AP style and grammar
    • Experience writing technical copy for various types of documents, such as but not limited to SOP and technical documents for the program or product.
    • Desktop publishing software – Adobe Systems, Microsoft applications
    • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
    • The ability to obtain a DOD security clearance is required.
    • Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of JLCCTC Program activities may be required.
