    SUMMARY: 

    The Logistician conducts logistical analysis of delivered products to ensure proper provision of Logistics Management Information, Manuals and Warranty information.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manages the physical shipping and receiving of all hardware, equipment and related goods in a warehouse and/or lab environment including: the physical loading, unloading, sorting and/or storage of equipment of varying sizes and weights in a safe and efficient manner.
    • Performs and maintains logistics inventories and related logistics functions. 
    • Monitor all shipments in transit and maintain communication with management and receiving locations about delivery and transit issues
    • Support setup, movement and tear-down of IT equipment within a lab environment
    • Assist with the preparation of logistics support documentation and source data, such as logistical product data reports, IUID marking activity, validation and verification reports, integrated logistics support plans, user logistics support summaries, post-production support plans, and logistics implementation plans for Common Battle Command Simulation Equipment.
    • Assist with the implementation, population and management of logistics plans, databases, and support files to support the fielding of simulation systems equipment.
    • Assist with identifying logistical issues and plans appropriate mitigation solutions.
    • Maintains clean, neat, and organized work spaces as well as supply inventory.
    • Applies logistics principles and methods to specialized logistics solutions. 
    • Performs logistics database management functions, and implements logistics discipline. 
    • Develops and fosters business relationships with suppliers and customers.
    • Works to understand customers’ needs and how to meet them.
    • Design strategies to minimize the cost or time required to move goods.
    • Reviews the success of logistical functions and identifies areas for improvement.
    • Compiles equipment/software user manuals and warranty documentation.
    • Implements and executes risk management, and participates in assessments.
    • Develops or assists in the development of contract CDRL reports/data and CM input as assigned.
    • Directly supports the CBCSE Program as a direct report to the Logistics Manager.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to include new business and proposal development.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in logistics, business, industrial engineering, process engineering, supply chain management or other related discipline.
    • Preferred certification in Supply Chain Management (i.e., CSCP, CPIM, CPSM, CPSD, CPL).
    • 8 years of experience in various logistics support functions and their automated support systems, involving maintenance planning, training, support equipment, test equipment, technical and logistics data, facilities support, supply support and/or warehousing in an Aerospace / Defense or IT Hardware QA position.
    • Background in hardware and system reliability analysis and determination; operator and maintainer manual validation and verification.
    • General experience and knowledge of logistics management principles and procedures, logistics documentation and automated logistics applications, logistics warehousing functions and documentation. 
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing to collaborate with colleagues and do business with suppliers and customers. 
    • Critical-thinking skills to develop, adjust, and successfully carry out logistical plans, with ability to find ways to cut costs and improve efficiency.
    • Good organizational skills to perform several tasks at one time, while maintaining detailed records, and simultaneously managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills to handle unforeseen issues, such as delivery problems, with the ability to adjust plans as needed to mitigate/resolve the issues.

    This position is operated in an office type environment but does also include operating in a warehouse type environment. The employee must regularly receive, lift and/or move boxes and equipment up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus while performing the duties of this job.  Sitting, standing and walking are also requirements of this position.
