Phoenix takes an active role in the day-to-day operations of its controlled companies.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The FP&A Associate will be working closely with the Accounting and Management teams of Phoenix and the portfolio companies. The primary goals are to be a finance resource for Phoenix and the portfolio companies and to manage operations projects as needed across all levels. There is a high degree of independent work that requires a self-starter attitude. The candidate will be exposed to the fundraising, analytics, and operations activities that take place at early-stage companies.

    • Develop financial models, used for capital raising decks and internal budgets, through independent research and management discussions

    • Perform various types of scenario modeling for projections, returns, and capitalization tables

    • Work with partners to manage capital raising process, including updating investor pipeline, communicating with potential investors, setting up data rooms, responding to due diligence requests, and managing documentation. 

    • Manage cap table tool, Carta, for holding company and select portfolio companies, including 409A valuation process and equity compensation

    • Manage general documentation of various types by both self-creation and working with lawyers. Documents such as: operating agreements, board consents, debt/equity agreements, corporate filings, etc..

    • Attend various calls with portfolio companies to collect updates on performance and provide advice as needed.

    • Various other general duties and possible special projects at portfolio companies

    SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS

    • Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred

    • 2+ years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role preferred

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint expertise

    • Ability to work on multiple projects while adhering to deadlines and producing quality work

    • High degree of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail

    • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, motivation, and the ability to work independently

    The title of Analyst or Associate will depend on the experience and capabilities of the candidate that is hired.

    This role is a hybrid role and will require the candidate to come into the office in downtown Chicago on a weekly basis. Exact number of days or hours per week in the office will vary and can be discussed.
