POSITION OVERVIEW
Higher Ground Integrated Human Services (IHS), Inc. is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial Photographer to operate and grow our on-site photography studio while teaching Beginner Photography Classes.
This is a profit-share opportunity, ideal for a photographer who wants access to studio space, built-in marketing support, and a platform to generate income through classes, sessions, and studio use — without the overhead of owning a studio.
This role is not employment. It is a business partnership-style contract where the photographer collects revenue and pays a percentage as a facility and studio usage fee.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE (PROFIT-SHARE)
Photographer retains 60% of all gross photography-related revenue
Higher Ground retains 40% as a Studio & Facility Rental Fee
Photographer collects all payments directly
No income cap — earnings scale with class attendance and bookings
Revenue sources may include:
Beginner photography classes
Private photography sessions
Studio photo shoots
Workshops or themed sessions
Portfolio-building sessions
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Photography Instruction
Design and teach Beginner Photography Classes (camera basics, composition, lighting, settings, etc.)
Lead small group classes and hands-on sessions
Create a welcoming, supportive learning environment
Set class schedules in coordination with Higher Ground
Studio Operations
Operate and maintain the photography studio during scheduled use
Ensure studio is clean, organized, and ready for sessions
Manage studio time usage efficiently
Follow all facility rules and shared space expectations
Creative & Business Development
Develop class offerings, workshops, or session packages
Assist with promotional content (photos, flyers, sample work)
Collaborate with Higher Ground on scheduling and marketing
Build a consistent presence that attracts repeat clients and students
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Photography experience (professional or advanced hobbyist)
Strong understanding of camera fundamentals (DSLR or mirrorless)
Ability to teach beginners clearly and patiently
Comfortable working with diverse age groups and skill levels
Reliable, organized, and professional
Entrepreneurial mindset — motivated by profit share, not hourly pay
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Teaching, mentoring, or workshop experience
Studio photography experience
Familiarity with lighting equipment and basic studio setups
Social media or portfolio showcasing photography work
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS
This is a contractor role
Photographer is responsible for:
Collecting payments
Managing their own taxes
Providing basic equipment unless otherwise agreed
Photographer may not represent themselves as an employee of Higher Ground
