    Qualifications: A college degree in early education, kinesiology, therapeutic recreation, or human development is preferred. Consideration will be given to a candidate’s education and experience.

    Job Goal: The Physical Education Teacher is to treat each child with love recognizing that each and every one is a child of God. Because we are taught that the human body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, we are commissioned to take care of the temples that God has created. In physical education we can do this by teaching students about healthy living and inspire them to enjoy being active. The physical education teacher should organize fun, attention-grabbing activities that help to develop students gross motor skills, such as games and competitions, to keep students active during class. Preschool is an opportunity to develop skills that will be used not only in elementary school, but throughout the life of each student. The physical education teacher will cultivate good social and emotional development through teaching good sportsmanship.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Work two days a week teaching classes of 6 to 10 children ages 18 months through 5 years old.

    Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for toddler, preschool, and pre-kindergarten students that coordinates, when applicable, with St. Anne’s educational units

    Be responsible for developing and maintaining an organized classroom that offers an effective learning environment

    Provide a warm and loving atmosphere for students

    Keep the safety of our students as a top priority

    Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings

    Complete a mid-year physical education evaluation for each student

    Communicate to Director/Parents regarding any concerns regarding gross motor skills

    Plan and lead students in Mother’s Tea and Father’s Coffee programs and attend special events (Orientation, etc.) sponsored by the school

    Lead “big group” on a rotating schedule as needed

    Assist the Aide before and after physical education classes by preparing crafts when needed

    Perform any other duties as requested by the Director

    Regular attendance is expected. St. Anne’s follows the City of Salem School System regarding holidays and snow days. The contract will include 5 teacher workdays (4 before school begins in August/September and 1 after school ends in May).
