    Job Description

    TITLE: Associate Compliance Manager LOCATION: Remote, anywhere in the U.S.

    OVERVIEW: The Assistant Compliance Manager will work with the Compliance Manager to implement and enhance an effective and comprehensive compliance program to assure that required policies, procedures, documentation, and administrative systems are in place and ongoing to support clinical, operational, and related risk management activities focused on robust routine and targeted clinical audits of patient scheduling, medical record documentation and coding, HIPAA privacy and data security, emergency preparedness, environment of care, ethics and conflicts of interest, and business continuity. The Assistant Compliance Manager will assist with the development and improvement of systems to effectively monitor the results of the compliance and ethics efforts of PRN. The Assistant Compliance Manager will help provide and provides effective reporting and communication on compliance matters. The Assistant Compliance Manager will assist in implementing actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program. The Assistant Compliance Manager collaborates extensively with the Compliance Manager and legal counsel to achieve the objectives of an effective compliance program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists the Compliance Officer with all pertinent tasks
    • Assists with the HIPAA Compliance and Incident Review Committee and will act as the organization's designated HIPAA Privacy Officer, and collaborates closely with the organization's HIPAA Security Officer
    • Possesses knowledge and experience in state and federal information privacy laws, including but not limited to HIPAA
    • Possesses excellent technical knowledge related to information technology and electronic record systems to ensure competent oversight and management of data security, privacy safeguards, and patient personal health information
    • Responsible to assist in the implementation and enhancement of an effective Compliance Program for PRN
    • Supports in development, initiating, maintaining, and revising policies and procedures for the general oversight of the compliance program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and ensure an effective compliance program
    • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
    • Consults with General Counsel as needed and assists in resolving legal compliance issues.
    • Helps in reporting and response to reports of alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and of the PRN Code of Conduct by assisting in the evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations
    • Supports the Compliance Manager in coordinating the investigation of significant incidents including, but not limited to, review of the medical record documentation, interviews of any knowledgeable personnel, review of pertinent policies and/or procedures, and referral of the occurrence as necessary to the appropriate department head or committee(s).
    • Contributes with proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate or required
    • Backs in response to and coordination of all Office of Civil Rights and ADA claims/proceedings
    • Assists in maintaining an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting: (a) use of the compliance hotline; (b) heightened awareness of the PRN Compliance Plan, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures
    • Aids in initiating and maintaining an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees and ongoing training for all employees and managers
    • Assists in Monitoring the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness
    • Conducts routine and targeted auditing and compliance reviews of patient scheduling coding, billing, and medical record documentation
    • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare compliance management
    • Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred.
    • CHC Certification (Certified in Healthcare Compliance) or other respected national compliance certification desired
    • HIPAA Privacy Certification desired

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive matters related to organization, employee, and senior leadership situations
    • Collaborative leadership skills and ability to influence others to build an effective compliance program
    • Ability to work collaboratively in team and partner well with others
    • Project management skills
    • Demonstrate leadership ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
    • Knowledgeable regarding healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, particularly related to healthcare compliance, including HIPAA and OSHA
    • Understand coding and reimbursement systems, risk management, and performance improvement helpful
    • Open to work at PRN's corporate office in Carlsbad, California or may work remotely from: (1) Southern California; (2) Denver, Colorado; (3) Dallas, Texas; (4) or Nashville, Tennessee preferred
