Job Summary:
The Physical Therapy Aide provides essential non-clinical support to the licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. The aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment, preparing patients and equipment for therapy sessions, and performing various administrative and operational tasks to ensure the efficient flow of the clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient and Treatment Area Support (under direct supervision):
Prepare treatment areas by setting up necessary equipment, such as heat packs, ice packs, exercise machines, and modalities.
Clean and sanitize treatment tables, equipment, and therapy areas before and after each patient use, ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols.
Assist patients with transfers, including moving to or from treatment areas, on or off treatment tables, and assisting with walking (gait) as directed by the therapist.
Monitor patients during non-skilled exercises (e.g., stationary bike, treadmill) and immediately report any changes in status, concerns, or adverse reactions to the supervising therapist.
Change linens, fold laundry, and manage supply stock for clinical use.
Administrative and Operational Support:
Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments
Assist with patient intake tasks, including greeting patients and ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and efficiently.
Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving up to [e.g., 50 pounds] safely, often with assistance.
Preferred (Optional):
Previous experience in a healthcare, physical therapy, or customer service setting.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and anatomy.
Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
