Job Description
Looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, all-around Medical Billing Professional.
Duties can include but not be limited to: entering and / or coding patient medical claims into a billing system to generate claims to be billed to insurance and patients, collecting, posting and managing account payments from patients, insurers, and third parties, submitting claims to third-party payers, and following up with insurance companies and patients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·· Processes and applies payments from insurance companies and patients to correct account and date of service.
· Balances payments entered in system against total received for every batch.
· Coordinates reimbursement activities between responsible parties.
· Reviews accounts to make sure correct and complete reimbursement has been received for each claim.
· Performs collections actions to obtain correct and complete reimbursement for each claim, including, but not limited to online claims follow up, contacting payers and/ or patients by phone, appealing claim denials, resubmitting claims with corrected information, obtaining corrected information from client when not available.
· Answers phone questions from patients, clients, insurance companies, and other sources.
· Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements.
· Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
· Reviews accounts for possible assignment to collections and makes recommendations to management; also prepares information for collection agency.
· Participates in educational activities as requested.
· Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
· Maintains strictest confidentiality; follows all HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
· Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices.
· Knowledge of computer programs.
· Knowledge of business office procedures.
· Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
· Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
· Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system
· Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
· Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, clients and other individuals as required.
· Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech.
· Must be well-organized and detail-oriented.
