    RICAR Business Consulting LLC (RBC) is a management consulting and professional services firm that supports federal, state, and local government clients with specialized staffing and operational solutions. RBC is seeking a General Surgery Physician (Contract) to support clinical operations at a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility.

    This role supports the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, providing essential surgical care services to Veteran patients under a federal non-personal services contract.

    Job Description Summary

    The General Surgery Physician will deliver high-quality, onsite surgical and clinical care to Veterans in accordance with VA standards and clinical best practices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring continuity of care, timely surgical services, and positive patient outcomes within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide comprehensive General Surgery clinical and surgical services in outpatient clinic and operating room settings
    • Perform scheduled surgical procedures and consultations in accordance with facility schedules
    • Deliver timely pre-operative and post-operative patient evaluations and follow-up care
    • Document all patient encounters accurately within the VA electronic health record (EHR) system
    • Communicate diagnostic results, treatment plans, and care instructions to patients and care teams
    • Participate in required quality assurance, peer review, morbidity and mortality, and service meetings
    • Adhere to all VA policies, patient safety protocols, infection control standards, and ethical guidelines
    • Coordinate care with nursing staff, anesthesiology, and other specialty providers as required
    • Maintain active credentials, licensure, certifications, and clinical privileges throughout the contract term

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience practicing as a General Surgery Physician
    • Demonstrated experience providing surgical care in a hospital or comparable clinical setting
    • Experience working within structured healthcare systems with established clinical protocols
    • Ability to function independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary care team
    • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems

    Education & Certifications

    Required:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (American Board of Surgery)
    • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
    • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
    • Active DEA registration
    • National Provider Identifier (NPI)

    Preferred:

    • Prior experience providing care in a federal or VA healthcare facility

    Schedule & Position Type

    • Contract position (1099 Independent Contractor)
    • Full-time coverage equivalent to approximately 40 hours per week
    • Typical hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
    • All services performed onsite; no remote work
    • No travel required beyond duty location

    Compensation Range

    • $210.00 – $225.00 per hour
    • Compensation based on verified hours worked
    • Payments issued monthly in accordance with contract terms

    Benefits Package

    This position is a 1099 independent contractor role and is not eligible for employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, or other employee benefit programs. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.
