Reports To: Manager, Data & Production Management
Summary: Data & Production Management Associates perform data research, and document production activities at the direction of physicians. Activities may include researching medical billing codes, researching scientific literature, sourcing cost data, working with medical cost/vendor surveys and cost analyses, and extensive proofing.
To be considered, candidates must be ready to work in a fast-paced environment and be adept at multitasking and managing multiple projects at the same time. Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills, excellent proofreading skills, a good attitude, a strong work ethic, and a firm commitment to deadlines are prerequisite.
This position requires seven to eight hours per day of prolonged sitting.
Essential Duties:
Understanding medical procedures, and their differences
Researching appropriate medical codes to various types of treatments and procedures
Making outbound telephone calls to location-specific vendors
Managing and auditing data
Utilizing data in arithmetic calculations
Managing communication between physicians and other staff and experts
Utilizing proprietary software
Performing quality control and proofreading medical documents
Other duties may be assigned as needed
Requisite Qualifications
More than three years’ experience working in a medical office/medical field, or one year coding and billing experience
Considerable knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, techniques, surgical procedures, anatomy and physiology, major disease processes and pharmacology
Strong ability to utilize online search engines and directories to research various medical procedures, equipment and costs
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
Strong grammar skills
Must be detail oriented and possess a strong ability to multitask on a continuous basis
Manage up to 12-15 cases per week
Typing 50+ WPM (Typing test required)
Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to calculate arithmetic and fractions
Ability to work with monetary values, weight and measurements, volumes and distances
Working knowledge of medical codes, i.e. CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9/10 CM, MS-DRG
Non-requisite/Preferred Qualification
CBCS Certificate or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in Anatomy, Biology or Chemistry
Work Schedule
5 day/40-hour work week: Mon - Fri 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
Overtime may be required as needed in accordance with end-of-month, end-of-quarter and end-of year-processes.
