    Description: As a Summer Camp Specialist, your main responsibility is to create a fun and engaging summer camp experience for children.Overall, as a Summer Camp Specialist, your role is to create a safe, fun, and enriching summer camp experience for children. You should be passionate about working with children, have strong leadership and organizational skills, and be able to create a positive and inclusive environment. We are looking for multiple candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: arts/theater (Elias), music, sports, or STEM.

    Responsibilities:

    Planning and Organizing Activities: You will be responsible for planning and organizing a variety of activities for campers, such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and field trips. These activities should be age-appropriate and designed to promote learning, teamwork, and creativity.

    Leading and Supervising Campers: You will be responsible for leading a group of campers throughout the day. This includes ensuring their safety, providing guidance and support, and addressing any behavioral issues that may arise.

    Providing Instruction and Support: Depending on your expertise, you will be responsible for providing instruction and support in specific areas, such as arts/theater (Elias), music, sports, or STEM.

    Collaborating with Camp Staff: As a Summer Camp Specialist, you will work closely with other camp staff members, including counselors, administrators, and support staff. Collaboration and effective communication are key to ensuring a successful summer camp experience.

    Ensuring a Positive and Inclusive Environment: It is important to create a positive and inclusive environment where campers feel safe, respected, and valued. You should be able to promote diversity and inclusion, and address any conflicts or issues that may arise among campers.

    Managing Camp Logistics: You may be responsible for managing camp logistics, such as scheduling activities and maintaining supplies and equipment. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for this aspect of the job.

    Communicating with Parents and Guardians: You will be responsible for communicating with parents and guardians regarding their child's participation in the summer camp. This includes providing updates on activities, addressing any concerns or questions, and maintaining open lines of communication.

    Certifications Required:

    Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification for adults/children/infants, or willing to take courses before the start of camp.

    Qualifications: To qualify for a Summer Camp Specialist position, you need a combination of education, skills, and experience. Here are some qualifications required or preferred:

    Education: Preferred Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, education, or related field

    /equivalent is typically required for a Summer Camp Specialist position. Some camps may prefer candidates with a bachelor's degree in a related field, such as education, recreation, or child development.

    Experience: At least 3 years of experience in camp management or a related field.Previous experience working with children in a camp, recreational, or educational setting is highly desirable. This can include experience as a camp counselor, teacher, tutor, coach, or mentor. Experience leading and organizing activities for children is also valuable.

    Knowledge of Child Development: A strong understanding of child development is important for creating age-appropriate activities and providing appropriate support to campers. Knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children can help you create a positive and engaging camp environment.

    Leadership Skills: As a Summer Camp Specialist, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a group of campers. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate others, make decisions, and manage behavior, are essential.

    Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are necessary for interacting with campers, parents, and other staff members. Clear and concise communication, both verbal and written, is important for conveying instructions, providing feedback, and addressing concerns.
