    GROUP DESCRIPTION

     

    The I&C Electrical and Instrumentation (I&C BU) business group focuses on the modernization of critical plant systems to support improved reliability, safety, and extended plant life.

     

    The Product Delivery, Engineering and Development (ICTUE) organization within the I&C BU designs and manufactures I&C solutions, replacement parts, upgrade components, software development, and general I&C engineering. Our safety and non-safety related commercial and government nuclear products are varied and involve projects that include board level design all the way up to systems integration.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    Framatome is seeking an Engineering Intern to support our I&C Electrical and Instrumentation organization.

     

    This qualified individual will:

    In a team-based environment, support Engineers who design digital and analog control systems for nuclear power plants. Working alongside more senior engineers, will assist in defining system requirements, developing system logic and defining control parameters to satisfy requirements.

     

    You will also assist in performing system integration of hardware and software platforms, as well as prepare documentation such as requirements, test procedures, and instruction manuals. You will assist senior design engineers during installation and start-up of delivered I&C systems and with hardware design for integration with software (system integration with some board level design).

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science (with strong math and physics background), or Physics (with computer programming coursework or experience), with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.

    Ability to use laboratory equipment such as Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, DVMs, Power Supplies, and logic analyzers

    Completed curriculum or labs in analog and digital electronics design

    Lab experience involving software and hardware integration

    Strong academic performance

    Strong technical problem-solving abilities

    Strong interpersonal skills

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

     

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

     

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
    • Lab experience in embedded system design and programming
    • Lab experience with 2D CAD or 3D modeling software (i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks)
    • Coursework or other experience with a high level programming language such as C++, C#, Java, Visual Basic, or LabView
    • Skills in analog & digital electronics design
    • PCB layout (Eagle)
    • PLC programming
