The IT Support Specialist is an entry-level position whose primary responsibility is to support our professional staff in serving our community. The IT Support Specialist will assist with computer and desktop phone setup , device installation , troubleshooting , Microsoft 365 (particularly, Outlook, Excel, and Word), Zoom , and Yardi cloud-based database and resident management software. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The IT Support Specialist is a non-exempt non-union full-time position under the IT Manager, in the administrative staff under the Executive Director. The IT Support Specialist is responsible for addressing low-level IT issues such as:
- Serve as the “Front Line” for IT queries from staff;
- Provide computer system, phone system, and desk set-up, configuration, and tear-down;
- Identify and address hardware and software issues; troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, and dependent on the severity of the problem, either resolve the issue or refer to the IT Manager;
- Respond to user requests for assistance on computer-related problems;
- Provide primary AV Support for all meetings held both onsite and offsite, as applicable;
- Organize and monitor IT inventory;
- Maintain wide berth of knowledge on software and hardware operating system issues and solutions;
- Occasionally travel between multiple sites when necessary to provide IT support;
- Provide professional, polite, and respectful customer service at all times;
- Perform all duties with high regard for integrity, honesty, and confidentiality, and demonstrate respect for the diverse community PCHA serves and represents;
- Assist in the maintenance of the PCHA Website;
- When trained, serve as backup for IT Manager when IT Manager is unavailable for On-Call work;
- Other duties as required or assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The IT Support Specialist is an entry-level IT position. Suggested qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- AA Degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience;
- Strong skills in software and hardware troubleshooting and repair;
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and auto insurance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Passion for learning and discovering solutions to complex problems in serving the people of our County;
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively and courteously in oral and written forms to both experts and novices in the field;
- Expert-level expertise with MS Office products , including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
- Strong knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems ;
- Experience working with an on-premises active directory environment that runs hybrid with Office365 and Azure;
- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards;
- In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws;
- Knowledge of virtualization;
- Familiarity with virus and spyware protection tools;
- Demonstrated ability to get along with others effectively; to lead and inspire, to participate as a team member, and to give and accept criticism constructively;
- Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals;
- High level ability to plan projects effectively, manage their timely implementation and effectively use the agency's management tools;
- Have a high regard and ability to meet schedules and timelines; demonstrate excellent ability to work independently with little direction;
- Ability to engage a wide variety of people with a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and good humor, including culturally, socially, and economically diverse populations, seniors, persons with disabilities, contractors, and professional colleagues.
