  • Responsibilities

    The Manager of Social Media reports to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications, and is responsible for enhancing and growing the university's online presence through social media, monitoring and responding on behalf of the university within official social media channels and using social media to assist with interactive marketing and publicity efforts for University Marketing. The manager generates reports related to Marketing and Communications, including social media metrics.

    • Writes /posts items to the university's social media outlets, monitors mentions of the university in social media and creates reports related to Stetson's social media presence.
    • Develops social media strategies in support of the university's PR/marketing efforts.
    • Reports on the effectiveness of Stetson's public relations and social media
    • Creates statistical reports as needed for Marketing and Communications.
    • Serve as a social media consultant for other areas of the
    • Oversee student workers who contribute to social media and also serve as the Marketing Office's point of contact for the Student Employment office.
    • This position may require extended periods of sitting and viewing information presented on a personal computer screen.
    • Performs other site- and position-specific functions as assigned.

    ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage, coordinate and monitor social media efforts for the university, including Facebook, Twitter, Linkedln, Instagram, YouTube, Flickr, Snapchat, TikTok and other social outlets. Ensure consistency of message, brand and CRM.
    • Manage and monitor multiple social dashboards daily, such as Hootsuite and Tintup, as well as others on an as-needed basis.
    • Manage and monitor local/place listings, search engine maps, Wikipedia presence and other social platform listings on an as-needed basis.
    • Lead, develop and implement strategies for Public Relations/Marketing Track and report the status/effectiveness of those campaigns and proactively report progress against objectives.
    • Monitor statistics and create/maintain reports showing effectiveness of public relations efforts using public relations monitoring software (Cision).
    • Coordinate and manage online marketing campaigns for the university, including research, development of proposals and tracking.
    • On request, provide consultant services for departments/colleges throughout the university, such as research, audits, workshops or training related to social media.
    • During times of crisis, assist in communicating information through social media, websites, email or other means.

     

     MINIMUM EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing or equivalent education/experience. 

    Required Skills

    • Ability to monitor overall social brand presence across multiple
    • Ability to engage/grow conversation with appropriate voice and tone for each social
    • Ability to track/analyze interactive media metrics for decision-making.
    • Ability to assess the value of emerging social networking platforms.
    • Must have an eye for detail, strong grasp of web standards, usability standards, social media marketing trends, SEO/SEM principles, device portability and browser compatibility.
    • Must work well within a multidisciplinary team capable of processing multiple projects simultaneously and rapidly - sometimes on a moment's notice.
    • Ability to lead the institution as a subject matter expert, trainer, and troubleshooter for all things related to social media/interactive marketing.
    • Proficiency with the construction of basic standards-compliant websites using HTML/CSS.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or equivalent software.
    • Familiarity with WordPress or equivalent blogging platform.
    • Must be able to regularly work outside normal work schedule.
    • Google Analytics and AdWords expertise is a plus.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing or equivalent education/experience
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing social media, including monitoring and responding
