Pigtails & Crewcuts is a high-end, high-volume salon that caters to kids. Our team consists of energetic Stylists that offer outstanding customer service who strive to create a fun and memorable experience. While haircuts for kids may be our specialty, we also offer adult haircuts, ear piercing, birthday party hosting, a wide variety of hair products and accessories, and toys!

At Pigtails & Crewcuts, no two days are the same! Our fast-paced environment is energetic and bright, filled with laughter and smiles. We support a team-oriented atmosphere that encourages our Stylists to be creative and work your magic with our awesome customers. Our Salon hours are focused around kids which means no late-night shifts!

Hours

We are a walk-in salon that is typically open 7 days a week. Right now we have a part time opening, 1-2 week days (afternoons) and weekends.

Responsibilities

Smile (a lot)

Give great haircuts (to moving targets)

Keep our equipment clean (we provide clippers, trimmers, etc.)(every time you use it, clean it)

Keep our stations clean (clean after every cut)

Keep our salon clean (daily responsibilities)

Learn about all of our high-quality hair products designed for kids and suggest them in appropriate situations to parents

Occasionally work birthday parties (we do hair and nail services for parties) and off-site events (arranged ahead of time)

Qualifications

Love kids

Have an abundance of patience

Have a cheerful and welcoming attitude

Great communication skills (deciphering what parents want, interacting with kids)

Ability to stay calm around crying kids. Most kids do well, but some kids cry and some cry a lot. While other salons turn them away, we welcome them. Our team must be calm, collected, and compassionate in these situations to help calm the child or work while the child cries and have compassion for the parent. It can be stressful and embarrassing for them and they need to know that it's ok and we can handle it.

Cosmetology OR Barbers license in the state of Alabama (not expired and must be in good standing)

Preferably 2+ years experience cutting hair

Compensation:

Equipment is provided (except for shears). We provide a competitive guaranteed base wage, plus tips and bonuses. Tips are paid out in cash each day after your shift ends. Employee discount.
