    We are looking for a Construction Corporate Safety Manager to join our team.

    Classification: Full-Time, Exempt, On-Site

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities

    • Develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with Customer, Federal, State, and Local rules and regulations

    • Prepares Dept. of Defense (DoD), and Civil project submittals

    • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in worksite safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials

    • Assist Project Managers & Superintendents with the evaluation & inspection of worksites to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where required and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented

    • Ensure that maintenance compliance logs and required safety-compliance reporting for all projects is performed, timely

    • Ensure that required signs, posters, barriers, PPE and other material to ensure the safety and compliance of our field team are in-place

    • Develop and host training for all levels of the team to maintain compliance with all customers, federal, state, local, and company requirements. Track and maintain records of all training

    • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations

    • Ensure that accident reporting required by regulatory agencies is timely and correct

    • Oversees the administration of workers’ compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time

    • Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions

    • Represents company in community or industry safety groups and programs.

    • Maintains safety files and records

    • Writes and develops AHA’s, JHA’, Safety Plans and other safety documents to meet customer and company safety requirements for pre and post awarded projects

    • Supervises all site safety personnel

    • Handles all Workers Compensation claims from beginning to end, working closely with our insurance carriers

     

    Qualifications & Competencies

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Construction field dealing with government contract safety protocols

    • Must have heavy civil and utilities knowledge

    • OSHA 500 certificate, preferred

    • Requires Level 5 experience, i.e., 30-hour OSHA training

    • Extensive knowledge of the EM-385-1-1 (Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health manual) is a PLUS!

    • Previous experience as Safety Officer at the Corporate level

    • Required to have a valid Driver License and a clean driving record

    • Must pass pre-employment drug test/physical/background check

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills

    • Excellent written/communication skills and the ability to work well with others

    • Teamwork – Balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to other’s views; gives and welcomes feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit

    • Customer Service – Assists with management of difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; meets commitments

    • Must have knowledge of DOD protocols including dealing with Government contracts, including safety management of DOD and Civil Project submittals

    • Experience in understanding, interpreting, and applying regulatory requirements applicable to the project scope of work

    • Experience investigating, documenting, and developing corrective actions for accidents, incidents, and near misses

    • Experience in developing site-specific programs, including emergency actions, response, evacuation, and security plans
