Job Description

The Accounting Manager/Controller performs and provides the accounting, bookkeeping, and financial analysis activities for a growing non-profit organization, which has revenues currently approaching $4 million per year, plus other sources of funds. Responsible for the accuracy of the Club’s accounts and financial reporting, and the timely delivery of tailored and highly relevant information to the Finance Committee. Reports to the General Manager, with additional oversight by the Finance Committee. This is a hands-on position, with limited assistance from subordinates. The Club’s books are generally audited annually by an external audit firm.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

· Thorough understanding of accounting principles.

· Highly skilled with spreadsheets.

· Extremely accurate and detail-oriented.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Ability to read, interpret, and explain balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as well as ability to create them and make sure that they tie to each other.

· Ability to create and prepare user-friendly, easy to read reports, at an appropriate level of detail for the task and audience.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Proficient in Enterprise systems for accounting, Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

· Must be able to adapt to, and quickly learn and become proficient in, current enterprise system (Northstar), creating seamless reporting desired by management and the finance committee.

· Proficient in financial analysis, forecasting, cost analysis, budgeting.

· Ability to summarize, describe, and explain financial results, including to non-financial people, in an easy to understand manner.

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration required.

· A minimum of five to seven years of highly relevant experience required.

· Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.

· Management and supervisory experience and skills preferred.
