OVERVIEW:
The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and laying pipe for storm drains, sanitary sewers, waterlines, and other types of pipelines. The Pipe Layer ensures that trenches are properly prepared for pipeline installation. The Pipe Layer grades and levels the bedding material, aligns and positions pipes, and checks pipe slopes using levels or lasers to ensure they conform to specifications and do not leak. The Pipe Layer supports the Foreman in monitoring progress, ensuring work is completed safely, and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work grades
Assure proper line of grade
Has overall responsibility in the ditch
Assures there are no leaks
Assures proper amount of stone under pipe
Working knowledge of safety regulations
Responsible for setting manholes on grade at the correct angles
Able to communicate effectively with others and work in teams
Able to solve basic, common sense problems
Follow directions by competent authority
Other Requirements: Pre-employment drug screen, and valid driver’s license.
Current OSHA 10 and confined space certification Is a plus.
