About the Role
Stocks General Contractors is seeking a skilled and dependable Pipelayer to join our growing field operations team.
This role is essential to the successful installation of underground utility systems across active job sites. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
● Install underground utilities including water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, and communications systems ● Work with materials such as PVC, ductile iron, steel, and concrete pipe ● Prepare trenches and grade areas for proper pipe placement ● Assist equipment operators and provide direction using hand signals ● Use pipe lasers, transits, and other tools to ensure accurate alignment and grading ● Assemble and connect pipe systems using fittings, bolts, and solvent cement ● Perform backfilling, leak testing, and inspections to ensure quality installation ● Maintain a safe and organized work environment across all job sites
What We’re Looking For
● 2–5 years of experience in pipe laying or underground utility construction ● Strong attention to safety, quality, and detail ● Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team ● Flexibility to adapt to changing job site conditions and assignments ● Basic math skills for measurements and material handling
Preferred
● Experience with large-diameter pipe installation ● Familiarity with civil construction projects (commercial, industrial, or government)
Certifications Required
● OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certification ● Confined Space Training ● Trenching & Excavation Awareness
Preferred: ● Rigging and Signaling Certification
Physical Requirements
● Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and perform manual labor tasks ● Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for 8–10 hours per day ● Ability to work in varying weather conditions
Schedule & Pay
● Full-Time | Hourly ● Monday–Friday (8–10 hour shifts; occasional weekends or night work required) ● Year-end performance bonus ● Weekly pay
