Assist in preparation of annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q financial statements, footnotes and MD&A
Interact with all departments of Finance, internal and external auditors and regulatory agencies
Prepare and establish monthly financial reports and trend analyses for individual companies
Assist in researching accounting issues
Work on cross-function teams within Finance
Analyze financial statement elements to ensure compliance with accounting and reporting standards and monitor accounting and regulatory changes affecting financial reporting
Assist in analysis of consolidated and segment results and assist in publishing monthly consolidated reports for management
Special projects as assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The incumbent will work in a fast-paced office environment, with highly regimented reporting requirements and strict deadlines
Ability to work overtime as needed to fulfill the essential functions and additional responsibilities, which may include special projects as necessary
Ability to understand prioritization to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and communicate effectively with others
Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision, and ability to adequately perform self-review of work to ensure accuracy and proper presentation
Must be dedicated, well organized, able to multi-task and work independently and in a team environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
4 year college degree in accounting, finance, or general business
Requires 2 to 3 years of experience in an accounting environment
Insurance accounting experience preferred
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office programs with strong excel skills and other computer applications used in their area.
SAP/BPC experience preferred
Workiva experience preferred
Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
Must be able to participate in problem solving as part of a team
